Governor Crist signed Executive Order 07-52 on March 26, 2007, creating the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness. The council is charged with developing a state plan of action to increase Floridians’ level of physical fitness through regular exercise and sound nutritional practices. They will also review the implementation of daily physical education for elementary school students and examine the availability of appropriate physical education for students in grades 6-12. The Governor's goal is to reduce the number of Floridians who suffer from chronic diseases resulting from obesity within the next 10 years.
