Florida OB/GYN Society President Guy I. Benrubi, MD Receives NCCJ 2005 Humanitarian Award

Jacksonville Obstetrician/Gynecologist Guy I. Benrubi, MD, will receive a Humanitarian Award from the Jacksonville Region of the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) for his community building work in Jacksonville. The NCCJ honors the men and women of the community who build bridges among diverse people, through their works in corporate, civic, charitable and faith-based endeavors. "It is an honor to add Dr. Benrubi to the distinguished Circle of Honorees," said Claud W. Myers, Executive Director of the NCCJ Jacksonville Region, "Guy embodies the spirit of a true humanitarian. His dedication has helped more people than could ever thank him, so on their behalf, we will do it for them. Thanks, Guy; keep on keeping on."

The 2005 Humanitarian Awards Dinner, "Reaching Beyond the Borders: Building Bridges with Compassionate Leadership," will take place on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Adam's Mark Hotel Jacksonville, where Dr. Benrubi will be among one of the four individuals to receive the Silver Medallion for his community building work.

Dr. Benrubi is the President of the Florida Obstetric and Gynecologic Society (FOGS). He is Professor, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of Florida College of Medicine; Associate Chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida Health Science Center/Jacksonville; and Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Shands Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Benrubi is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of numerous medical societies, including: the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Florida Medical Association; he is a founding member of The John Mikuta Society, the Jacksonville Oncology Society and an Honorary Member of the Miami Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.

Among his outstanding awards and achievements, Dr. Benrubi has received an award for Outstanding Student Teaching in OB/GYN, University of Florida consecutively for the last twelve years (1992-2004).
