Dear Colleagues,

It is my great honor to personally invite you to the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Florida Obstetric and Gynecologic Society, jointly sponsored by the Florida Section ACOG. I have greatly enjoyed working with our wonderful management team to bring you what I think will be an exciting, educational, and enjoyable meeting. For the first time ever, we will be holding our Annual Meeting in conjunction with the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility's (FSREI) Annual Meeting. I hope this will give both groups the opportunity to interact in the spirit of collegiality. This year's program has a panel of guest lecturers who almost exclusively hail from our own state of Florida. I hope to showcase our homegrown talent and revitalize our professional enthusiasm and enhance the pride we all feel towards our very special brand of medicine!

I also feel particularly blessed to be able to welcome to our meeting an icon in the field of gynecology, Dr. William Droegemueller. Is there any one of us who has not memorized, from cover to cover, his textbook, Comprehensive Gynecology? I am so pleased that he graciously accepted our invitation to speak at this year's meeting. He will be lecturing on "The Importance of Mentoring Throughout Your Career," and this is highly appropriate for our theme of "Stronger Together."

Of course, I must mention the many amenities that our resort offers to our meeting participants. Nearly all forms of outdoor enjoyment are available to you right here on the property. Additionally, rumor has it that there are a few nearby attractions that are popular with families. Orlando is a city full of opportunities for fun and entertainment.

Please plan to attend the President's Dinner Dance on Saturday. This is a wonderful evening of food, fun, and fellowship. What better way to feel the spirit of collegiality than to get out on the dance floor with your colleagues and just let loose. I hope to see all of you there.

On behalf of the entire FOGS board, I wish to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to all who have supported our Annual Meeting. Let's make this the meeting where we all truly feel "Stronger Together!"

Sincerely,
Tamberly Ford McCarus, MD
FACOG FOGS President, 2007-2008
