ACOG District IV Annual District Meeting
The District IV Annual District Meeting (ADM) will be held at the beautiful Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa from October 1–3. Many junior fellow and medical student activities are planned. A highlight will be the oral and poster presentation of junior fellow original research with cash awards given to first, second and third place in both categories. Online submissions can be made at www.acog.org. On Saturday afternoon, a hands-on medical student course is scheduled. Medical students can practice suturing, IUD placement and vaginal deliveries.
Congratulations to Fidel A. Valea, MD from the Duke University School of Medicine! He is the winner of the 2010 Donald F. Richardson Faculty Award. Dr. Valea is the obstetrics and gynecology residency program director at Duke University and a gynecologic oncologist at Duke Raleigh Cancer Center. Dr Valea will receive his award at the 2010 District IV Annual Meeting in Savannah.
Stump the Professors - Annual District Meeting
At our District IV Annual District Meeting we will hold our 2nd Annual Stump the Professors Session! Please submit your cases to vfeldba@emory.edu by July 15, 2010.
Elections
Two different elections will occur this summer. The Florida Section ACOG will hold elections for a new junior fellow vice chair. Look for a call for nominations and voting for this important position in the near future. The junior fellow vice chair attends District IV advisory council meetings and assists the junior fellow section chair. The vice chair automatically becomes the section chair the following year.
District IV will also elect a new junior fellow district vice chair and secretary-treasurer. Voting for these two district offices is conducted via the internet from August 1–31. Look for announcements in the ACOG newsletter and via e-mail. The following junior fellows are running for these positions:
Vice Chair
Jill Krapf, MD
Washington, DC
Todd A. Besnoff, MD
Pensacola, FL
Secretary/Treasurer
Kay Waud, MD
Norfolk, VA
