ACOG

The Florida Section of the American Congress (and College) of obstetricians and gynecologists (ACOG) has embarked on a process by which our Section will achieve District Status within the next two years, pending approval by the general membership. This process has been considered in the course of several meetings of your ACOG Section Advisory Council, our Transition Committee, and the Florida Obstetrics and Gynecologic Society (FOGS) Board, in consultation with District and National ACOG officers. The rationale for this transition has been recently reviewed in the Winter and Spring FOGS/ACOG Newsletter. Below is some additional information on the mission of this transition, the ACOG Guidelines for becoming a District, members of the Transition Committee and a recently mailed letter to all FL Section ACOG members regarding the transition.

Soon you will receive a ballot by U.S. mail. Your Florida Section officers, ACOG transition Committee, and Board of FOGS recommend a "yes" vote on this issue. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at turbo911doc@comcast.net, or Vice–Chair Karen Harris at kharris997@aol.com.

Sincerely,
Jay Trabin, MD
Chair, FL Section ACOG
